SOCKS Research Intern (REU with UVM Vermont EPSCoR)
I had the incredible in opportunity in summer 2024 to work on an REU-funded project in Burlington, Vermont. I worked on a project with Dr. Matthew Price exploring trauma and recovery narratives in health. Utilizing tools like Shifterator and Hedonometer for language analysis, I visualized the emotional expression and linguistic features of trauma and its relation to PTSD, depression, and other psychological outcomes. I also presented these findings at the International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies. See below for my research presentation given to the SOCKS cohort.

As an intern for the Florida Mental Health Advocacy Coalitoin (FLMHAC), I have engaged in legislative advocacy. Here, I advocated directly with Florida legislatures about mental health initiatives at Behavioral Health Day at the capital in Tallahassee. I am also conducting an ongoing policy analysis and research project on Homeless House Bill 1365, a new Florida camping and public sleeping bill, to inform future policy strategies for families affected by behavioral health conditions.
